GREENWORKS! - Project Learning Tree provides small grants ($200-$1,000) for community action projects which involve partnerships between the community and students which demonstrate environmentally responsible actions and enhance the surroundings. Tree plantings and habitat enhancement would qualify. To be eligible, the grant recipient must have participated in a Project Learning Tree workshop. Deadline early October.

Pennsylvania WILD Action Grants - Available through the Project WILD office. $250 - $500 grants for school or community habitat improvement projects (outdoor classrooms, butterfly or bird gardens). Students must be involved in the project and connections to the curriculum must be identified. Deadline late Fall.

PA DEP Environmental Education Grants - Up to $10,000 with a 25% match. Pre-application letter required in September. Plants and structures are not funded. However, curriculum planning and development and teacher training qualify.

The Captain Planet Foundation - $250 to $2,500 for innovative programs that empower children to work and to solve environmental problems in their neighborhoods and communities. Mission is to facilitate and support hands-on environmental projects for children and youth. Proposals reviewed at the end of September, December, March and June. Proposals can be submitted on-line from web page.

Phillips Petroleum Environmental Partnership Awards (PEP) - $500 to $5,000 for primary and secondary schools working with a Project WET, Project WILD or Project Learning Tree facilitator.

Toyota TAPESTRY Grants for Teachers - Up to $10,000.Innovative projects that enhance science education and emphasize efficient use of natural resources and protection of the environment.

National Fish & Wildlife Foundation - $2,000 and up to initiative that support educational projects about fish, wildlife, plants and their habitat. A primary target audience is K-12 teachers and students. Pre-proposal deadlines are March 30 and July 31.
