Harborwalk Trail Description:
The Harborwalk Trail follows paved trails and sidewalks from Portland's East End Beach around the harbor and across the Casco Bay Bridge to the South Portland Greenbelt Walkway and Bug Light Park. Stop along the way to view the Whale Wall and explore Portland 's working waterfront by heading down the Maine State Pier. The Portland Pier and Chandler 's Wharf offer interesting views as well. The sidewalk on the bridge offers pedestrians fantastic views of the harbor. Cyclists are required to cross the bridge using the road.

At the South Portland Greenbelt Walkway either turn left to continue the Harborwalk to Bug Light Park or turn right to leave the harbor and see the busier sections of the trail give way to a quiet forested area as the trail continues south. Public toilets can be found at East End Beach (seasonal), Maine State Pier/Casco Bay Ferry Lines, and Bug Light Park (seasonal).

The trail is marked by a series of yellow signs. From East End Beach the trail proceeds along the Eastern Promenade Trail to Portland 's Old Port where it joins with the sidewalk. Through a busy waterfront area the trail connects to Harborview Park and onto the Casco Bay Bridge . Across the bridge a ramp leads to Thomas Knight Park , South Portland 's waterfront market area, and the South Portland Greenbelt Walkway. The paved greenbelt leads to Bug Light Park . Options for return include the water taxi (207) 879-2562, which should be booked in advance.
