South Portland Greenbelt Walkway Description:
This paved bicycle and pedestrian path is a rail-trail built in 1977 that connects South Portland parks and neighborhoods from the Wainwright Recreation Complex to Bug Light Park and the Spring Point Shoreway. The greenbelt walkway is also the northern terminus of the Eastern Trail that will eventually connect south all the way to Kittery . During summer months public toilets are available at Bug Light and Willard Beach.

The paved trail passes through Mill Creek Park, the business/shopping district and residential areas. At the intersection of Madison Street and Breakwater Drive the trail divides, leading to Bug Light Park or along the shoreline where it forms the Spring Point Shoreway Trail.

Trail access:
Parking is available at Bug Light Park , in the shopping centers of Mill Creek, and in the Wainwright Recreation Complex, which can be reached via the Gary Maietta Parkway, off of Highland Avenue.
