We’re grateful for YOU! ❤️ Portland Trails i We’re grateful for YOU! ❤️ Portland Trails is made up of members, volunteers, staff, trustees, community partners, landowners, trail users — and that’s just the start! We could not transform Greater Portland into a more walkable, bikeable, sustainable, and equitable place for all without you.

We also want to acknowledge that the land where we live and are giving thanks is the unceded territory of the Wabanaki nations. The Wabanaki people have lived here for thousands of years, and they are still here today. Portland Trails is humbled to support our Wabanaki neighbors’ work toward sovereignty, and we invite you to join us.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! (And if you’re looking for a post-meal walk with your family, we’ve got a trail for that.) 🦃

Like everyone throughout Maine and beyond, our hea Like everyone throughout Maine and beyond, our hearts are broken over the horrific events in Lewiston last week. As we all collectively process the tragedy and begin to grieve, we hope you’re able to find solace and comfort in nature. Spending time near sturdy trees, falling leaves, soft moss, birdsong, and running water can help us tend to our mental and emotional well-being. By taking care of ourselves, we’ll be better able to take care of each other.

If you’d like to take some action that will directly help recovery efforts, our friends at @mainecf have started the Lewiston-Auburn Area Response Fund. Visit their page for a link to learn more and donate.

Be well, friends ❤️

The first National #WeekWithoutDriving starts toda The first National #WeekWithoutDriving starts today! Did you know that approximately a quarter of Americans can’t or don’t drive? If you’re someone who does have the choice of driving, consider getting around without your car this week. Can you walk? Bike? Take the bus? Get a ride with a friend or family member?

The goal of this initiative isn’t to celebrate going car-free. Instead, it’s an invitation to notice the challenges and barriers non-drivers face every day. By paying attention to these challenges, we can move toward equitable transportation for all members of our community.

Our Inclusion Coordinator, Angelique, organized a picnic in Riverton Trolley Park for residents of the Homeless Services Center and members of @inherpresence. She made an African feast for everyone to enjoy, the weather was beautiful, and everyone had a wonderful time. In total, 53 people attended the event. As Angelique said afterward, “That wasn’t a picnic. It was a party!”
