Back Cove Trail

Trail Description
One of the oldest and most popular trails in Portland, the Back Cove Trail offers stunning views of the Portland skyline and is a beautiful spot to catch a sunrise or sunset. Ideal for commuting, thousands of people walk, run, and bike on this 3.6-mile loop trail every single day. There are benches and two seasonal water fountains along the trail as well as access to a fitness course and multi-use field. Portable toilets are available in the parking areas at Preble Street Extension and Payson Park.
The Back Cove Trail connects to the Payson Park trails as well as the Bayside Trail and Eastern Promenade Trail under Tukey’s Bridge.

Accessibility Information
This is an Improved Access Trail. This trail is designed to be more accessible to people with disabilities, wheelchairs, walking devices, strollers, and new cyclists. This trail has a wide, smooth surface with benches spread out intermittently. There is a slight rise in incline along the stretch of trail that is parallel to I-295.
