Trail Description

Nestled between two neighborhoods, this 16.5 acre open space has trails, wildlife habitat, a small pond, and several benches. This green space is a perfect example of an urban forest; it provides an opportunity for people to access nature within the city limits, provides a critical travel corridor and habitat for wildlife, and absorbs and filters stormwater. In 2019, we created an Improved Access Trail that is more accessible for trail users with wheelchairs and walking assistive devices.

The trail can be accessed from trailheads on Canco Road, Holiday Drive at the Woods at Canco, or at the end of Frye (off of Kineo), Rosedale, and Torrey Streets.

Across Canco Road, there are other trails that connect Canco Woods to Barbo Pond and University Park. These are also Improved Access Trails.

Accessibility Information

Canco Woods includes an Improved Access Trail. This trail is designed to be more accessible to people with disabilities, wheelchairs, walking devices, strollers, and new cyclists. The trail circles Birchwoods at Canco and can be accessed from Holiday Drive.

Other trails in Canco Woods are narrower and have slight hills and some uneven ground.
