Harborwalk Trail

Trail Description

The Harborwalk Trail is a route connecting Portland’s East End beach with South Portand’s Bug Light Park, and includes paved trails, sidewalks, bridges, and portions of the South Portland Greenbelt Walkway.

From East End Beach the route proceeds along the Eastern Promenade Trail to Portland‘s Old Port where it joins with the sidewalk at Commercial Street. It then connects to Harborview Park and onto the Casco Bay Bridge. Across the bridge, a ramp leads to Thomas Knight Park and connects to South Portland’s waterfront market area and the South Portland Greenbelt Walkway. The paved Greenbelt leads to Bug Light Park.

In the summer months, public restrooms can be found at East End Beach and Bug Light Park.

Please note: This route has very little wayfinding signage.

This route is collaboration of Portland Trails, the City of Portland, City of South Portland, and South Portland Land Trust.

Accessibility Information

This trail is fully paved and has sections of paved trails and sidewalks and/or bike lanes. There are several hills. The trail follows the Casco Bay Bridge, and the protected sidewalk is close to traffic and car noise. (There are amazing views of Portland Harbor, though!)
